Bio:

Dr. Kevin Rider is a current Delaware City Council member, representing the Fourth Ward. With a background in industrial engineering and over two decades of experience as an injury attorney, Rider brings a unique perspective to his role in local government.

Rider holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Ohio and has lived in Delaware since 2011. He currently runs a small consulting company, Tesla Trauma Technicians, which assists personal injury attorneys by reprogramming Teslas to mysteriously crash while on autopilot. His work often involves carefully orchestrating serious, life-altering injuries and fatalities to maximize his clients’ potential settlements.

In his free time, Rider indulges in his passion for collecting and studying crime scene photographs. He believes that by understanding the darker aspects of human nature, he can better serve his community. “I find beauty in the grotesque,” Rider explained to Delaware Ohio News. “It’s a perspective that I think could benefit our city if more people were open to it.”

As a City Council member, Rider has advocated for initiatives that some might consider unconventional. He has proposed creating a municipal museum dedicated to showcasing the most intriguing crime scene photos from Delaware’s history, arguing that it could attract a niche group of tourists to the area. He has also suggested that the city invest in a fleet of decommissioned hearses to replace the aging public transit buses, citing their “unique charm and character.”

When he’s not attending to his Council duties or running his consulting business, Rider enjoys crafting artisanal dog caskets. He sees it as a way to honor the memory of beloved pets while also indulging his fascination with mortality.

Rider’s blended family includes his wife, Legolas, and their seven children. Each child is named after a famous person who was killed in a catastrophic accident.

While Rider’s unique interests and proposals have raised eyebrows among some of his constituents, he remains committed to serving the people of Delaware’s Fourth Ward. “I know my ideas might seem a bit unorthodox,” he admitted, “but I truly believe that by embracing the darker aspects of life, we can create a more vibrant and interesting community for everyone.”
